ONE HUNDRED DAY COUNTDOWN

New beginnings take place constantly. When you thread them together, you get a lasting experience.

I started my 100-day countdown on Sunday, May 28, 2017, a new beginning, to a new beginning, that will culminate on Monday, September 4, 2017; the launch of my website, which includes videos, ebook, blogs and more.

I am a process oriented person who believes strongly in the fact that only humans tell stories. It then makes sense that I will transmit the narrative of this exciting process as the days progress.

This is a perfect example of the process; I can countdown my progress.

80 days to go: Friday, June 16, 2017

The process is a creative one. When I write or speak about being process oriented versus product oriented, I have to admit that the framework within which I discuss process is creativity. I can’t imagine (pun intended) any process taking place without it being a creative one. What we are witnessing is process losing much of its innate creative nature and relying more on data collection. We tend to lose sight of the fact that, developmentally speaking, we are creative beings first. Later, we learn how to think. But as things, such as our development and growth, are not linear, the loop of influence takes place from day one. Actually, even before we came into this world, our sensory system was already creatively functioning; processing sensory information through our Central Nervous System, a system that biologically is not complete till our late teens.

Meaning is then created by the interactions between our internal and external environments and those sensory experiences. This is the ground work that is laid for choices we make in the future as we continue to interpret and associate the information we receive.

Over the years, we collect and store these experiences. We construct and form memories. Dr. Keith Sawyer makes the following "provocative claim: Great creativity is based in great memory." And, he continues, that according to Joshua Foer "you'll remember more if you think spatially, visually, and with your body." In other words, we remember more when we are engaged with our environment in a physical or sensory way.

One skill that we acquire is the ability to imagine. According to Michele and Robert Root-Bernstein, imaging is "the most important thinking skill in our creative toolbox." They define imaging as "the ability to recreate sensory impressions and feelings in our minds in the absence of extrinsic or direct physical stimulation from our eyes, ears, nose, tongue, hands or body."

Imaging is connected to the set of cognitive skills we call imagination. We can alter, combine, synthesize and otherwise manipulate sensory images to form images and ideas of things never before perceived in reality. We can project into the future. We can take the creative leaps and conjure up things that, as yet, do not exist.

My Call To Action would be: In order to produce the best product, start by immersing yourself in the best process; the creative one.

Your question is important and appreciated debasish majumder. I think the boundaries between the internal and external are blurred. One influences the other so strongly, it's hard to tell where one begins and the other ends.

Thank you Joel Anderson. Your contributions are always appreciated. Great line, "Often times the value of creativity and thinking thinking comes from life experiences over time that serve as a reference point".
